What cookies are

Small text files that websites store on your device. Every website uses them. Ours are minimal.

What we use

Essential cookies

These make the site work. They don't track you, don't collect personal information, and can't be switched off without breaking things.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to see which articles get read and how people find us. This tells us things like “the BISS guide got 200 views this week” — not “Mary in Galway read it on Tuesday.” The data is anonymised and aggregated. It helps us write more of what's useful and less of what isn't.

What we don't use

No advertising cookies. No tracking pixels. No retargeting. No “we noticed you looked at cattle collars, here's an ad for cattle collars everywhere you go.” None of that.

Opting out

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings:
